weekend getaway

we went to beautiful Tilghman Island on the Chesapeake Bay for the weekend.

this is the drawbridge that connects Tilghman Island to the rest of the world.
we saw about a bajillion churches. I guess the east is more religious than the west.
this church was founded in 1672

the red one is a school

I put my sunglasses over the camera lens for this picture. I have really huge sunglasses.
our hotelier told us about a bunch of wild turkeys and a peacock that live on the island, and a minute after that, there they were.

we found Sprecher Root Beer at a local market and decided it is the best root beer we've ever had.
fresh, local seafood!
we were so glad to get away, and to explore, and spend time in the car together, and walk around together, and spoil ourselves with little treats like root beer and chocolate.

emily sent me a link to your blog post. looks like you had so much fun. i want to go.

and just so you know... you can get sprecher root beer at the dairy godmother in del ray. so if you ever want it again, you don't have to go all the way to tilghman.

I'm not sure it's that the east is more religious... I think the west just has less religious diversity ergo fewer churches... or maybe we're all just a bunch of heathens out here. Wish we could come see you guys!

The first church looks like the Norwegian churches in Cardiff and Swansea, (in Wales)
