asilah is a smaller costal town not too far from tangier. it's similar to tangier in that it's a costal fortress, captured and recaptured by everyone and their mother over time. but the medina within the city walls was cleaner, quieter, and more touristy than tangier. our guide told us about art and music festivals held there, and we saw some of the paintings on the walls. some of the doors and buildings are decorated with the hand of fatima, a symbol for protection, and all are painted in a shade of blue or green.
i want to go back!
