water taxi to National Harbor

Emily, Laura, Chris and I took a water taxi to National Harbor.
We missed Jenn because her Scrooge of a boss (my words not hers) made her work on Thanksgiving weekend.

The Potomac didn't inspire in me an urge to go fishing. I'm not sure if it was the massive amounts of floating debris or the cold wind, but I'm pretty sure it was the floating debris.

The mall

We played for a bit at the Gaylord Hotel. We rode their elevators, watched their fountain show and played their peeps game.

We found six peeps on our scavenger hunt and so when we went to the peep store (thats right, the peep store) and they gave us free Mike & Ikes.

We went ice skating, too. I'll post a few videos from that next time.

Where's Laura?

Now that Thanksgiving weekend's as dead as leftover turkey, Laura has officially started with the Christmas music. She smiles like that when she listens to it.

Robert and I had Thanksgiving with my sister Emily and my cousins Chris and Jenn.

We had a wonderful turkey dinner with all the trimmings. 

Everybody helped and it turned out great.

we had sour cream apple pie, and chocolate pecan pie. 

(and I have been having pie for breakfast the last couple of days)

Happy Thanksgiving

I know this may seem like more of a Veterans Day sort of post, but when I think of Thanksgiving it's hard for me not to think of my Grandpa Brown--a veteran of Iwo Jima.

We used to spend every Thanksgiving with the Brown clan and Grandpa would tell us stories and say really long prayers before dinner.

And so for one of our pre-Thanksgiving Thanksgiving activities we decided to visit the Iwo Jima Memorial, which happens to be only a handful of blocks away from our apartment.

We also bought a slurpee and rented "Up."
