january's not so bad

before you get all down on what you think is the worst month of the year, imagine gliding down a snowy mountain, drinking tons of hot chocolate, and swimming in a steamy pool. sounds good!

watch us ski

so, i know we went spring skiing forever ago, but i just made a video of it today. it's 3 minutes of just us skiing, so if you get bored or seasick i understand. the music is hanni el khatib, who we really like but you have to watch out for f*g h*rns now and then.

spring skiing

the mountain was so warm and beautiful and the snow wasn't too bad either. towards the end of the day it was like skiing on a slurpee and it tasted just as good. after the first couple runs I took off that jacket and shed a couple layers and I was still too warm. we both came home with pretty ridiculous sunburns.

a walk to the doughnut shop on what I hope will be our last snow day this season

put a bird on it

portlandia isn't my favorite show, but it sure has it's moments. this blog is boring. i know, put a bird on it!

a little snow to play in

this winter has been strange. more mild than we remember. it used to be only a matter of 'when', but now i wonder 'if' winter will will come as it has before.

ski weekend

oh, targhee! i love thee.

at one time this weekend we were on the chairlift with an old hippie guy. (probably high.) robert told him he teaches english at byu-i, and the old man said, "oh, so you teach all 'thee' and 'thou' and stuff?" robert said, "yeah, sure."

that was the only time we rode the chairlift with someone else. most of the time the chair lifts were empty. we had all that beautiful snow to ourselves. skiing through fresh, dry powder is like skiing on a wedding cake. or a birthday cake?

i got to ski on my birthday. and i got to ski on martin luther king jr. day, too. wish come true.

hiking

the other day we set out to hike in darby canyon up to the wind caves. the trail was so muddy and slippery, we didn't make it to the caves. but we did see a bunch of horses and an irish wolf hound.

all in a day

1. on my way to work in the morning
2. on my lunch break
3. on my way home after work
i love the snow. i wish we had more of it, but i love it.
