thanksgiving

for the beauty of the earth, for the beauty of the skies, for the love which from our birth over and around us lies, lord of all, to thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise.

as of late

my doritos is a taco, my taco is a doritos! // super mario for reals // making gnocchi // craters of the moon and the temple // mother's day cake and flowers // driving to twin and neon lights.

twin falls

we breezed over to twin falls for president's weekend, when my parents also came to visit my grandma. we finally went to the infamous depot grill. it was fun, but let's never eat there again, ok?

93

i spent the weekend in 2t for my grandma's birthday. she turned 93 on sunday. i showed up unexpectedly on her doorstep holding poinsettias. she was so surprised i finally had to tell her i was getting cold and i wanted to come inside. the next morning we noticed a friend of hers had written a birthday message on her driveway. we ate out a lot, and she shared all her birthday candies and treats with me. it was a nice weekend.

we decided to draw animals with our sparklers and we ended up with 3 giraffes

we must be related.

mine's the one with spots. there's also a butterfly and a penguin in there.

idaho summer

we jumped and swam in dierkes lake over the weekend.

The Fall(s)

Shoshone Falls (which is taller than Niagara Falls) is engorged.

Laura and I, along with a score of other Hellewell relatives, are in Twin Falls, ID, for a family reunion.

Shoshone Falls looks like this:

And I think this might be my favorite Laura and Emily picture to date.

Drive to 2T

The Snake river's so fat when it steps on a dollar bill, quarters pop out.

The Snake looks like it swallowed a bloated cow (oh snap).

We ate a cheeseburger in Arco, ID, and spooked a horse next to this fixer upper.

We stopped at Craters of the Moon National Park and played with flowers like Laura's skirt.

We made it to Twin Falls after some chicanery and then the Braves beat Seattle three games in a row.

Note: Laura's Grandmother is a huge Brave's fan. Thanks a lot, Mariners.

Weekend in Twin

We went to my grandmother's house in Twin Falls over the weekend. My mom and dad, and my sister were there, too.
We went to see Shoshone falls.
you never need to bring a coat to Twin, we always just borrow one of grandmother's.
how handsome.

robert made me add this one.

Great Uncle Elden

Last weekend, Robert and I went to Twin Falls for a funeral. My Great Uncle Elden died. It was so nice to see everyone. I was glad see my grandma and especially my parents. It is bittersweet when such an occasion calls for family to come together.
Me with my mother and "Uncle" Larry. Larry was my dad's roommate in college and he has been coming to our family get-togethers ever since.

My grandma with her sister, Lorraine, Elden's wife.

I think my dad want some little kids to play with.

Aren't these kids so cute? My twin cousins Nicholas and Natalie with their little brother, Gavin. No one knows where that red curly hair came from.

Mom and Dad.

My dad and my grandma.

2T

Over the break between semesters we went to visit Laura's grandmother for a few days. She lives in Twin Falls, Idaho. It was great. She took Laura shopping and she took us out to eat. We watched movies, and she drove us around to see the sights in (what she calls) her "peppy" new car.
